Maintenance
- We recommend using a mattress protector to avoid voiding your Comfort Guarantee, Return Privilege or Warranty. If you sleep with a baby or suffer from incontinence use a waterproof mattress protector. If you are mainly concerned with keeping your mattress like new as long as possible and want to diminish normal wear and tear we recommend our organic cotton and wool mattress protector. It is not waterproof, but if you spill a drink or drop some food on it, you will have time to mop up the spill with a towel and then remove it to give it time to dry. It will also protect the mattress from normal perspiration.
- Our mattresses are not designed to be flipped, however having a zipper cover allows you to unzip the top panel and flip the top layer of latex. This process is much easier than flipping an entire mattress. When handling latex layers do not grab the latex and yank on it. It may tear and leave you with a handful of latex. Instead grab the layer gently with two hands and flip it over. You can easily adjust the positioning with a flick of the wrist. It is like adjusting a comforter. You can also flip it from head to toe. Simply fold the layer in half from head to toe. Then lift and pull the lower half toward the head end. This procedure requires no lifting at all. It is easiest with one person on each side of the bed, but one person patiently walking from one side to the other can do it in a few minutes. We suggest that you do this on a yearly basis.
- The entire top panel is removable. This allows you to take it off and place it in the sun for a few hours. This will evaporate any moisture in the cover and it will fluff up the wool inside the cover. In order to rezip the panel back on you should slide the rest of the mattress away from the headboard or wall about a foot in order to make sure that the zipper ends are securely pushed together as much as possible.
- NEVER attempt to wash or dry clean the top panel. If you do that, the wool inside will compress and bunch up. It will no longer fit on the mattress. You will need to purchase a complete new cover.
