Here’s something I’ve always found funny.
Two people can get married.
Share a home.
Share dinner.
Share a bathroom.
And sleep in the same bed for years.
But ask them one innocent little question:
“How firm do you like your mattress?”
Suddenly, years of marital harmony are in danger.
One person says,
“I love a softer mattress.”
The other says,
“Nope. I need more support.”
So who compromises?
At Natural Mattress Heaven, our answer is pretty simple:
Why should either person have to?
There’s a question behind the way we build our mattresses:
“How Can We Make It Better?”
Because two people don’t have the same bodies, sleep the same way, weigh the same, or experience comfort exactly the same way.
So why should one mattress force both people into the same firmness?
With our mattresses, each side can have its own comfort level.
You can choose:
Soft. Medium. Firm. Extra Firm.
One partner might choose Firm.
The other might choose Medium.
Same bed.
Different comfort.
And no nightly negotiations required.
But firmness is only part of the story.
Our Honeysuckle and Forget-Me-Not mattresses use substantial layers of wool, with options that can include combinations such as cashmere and wool, alpaca and wool, or extra-thick Eco Wool.
Inside the hand-tufted top panels are two or three layers of 4K microcoils.
Those tiny coils may not look terribly exciting by themselves, but put thousands of them together and they become an important part of the mattress’s comfort, responsiveness, and airflow.
A queen-size Forget-Me-Not contains about 8,000 microcoils.
A queen Honeysuckle contains about 12,000.
And a king has roughly 20% more.
Twelve thousand tiny coils working underneath you while you sleep?
That sounds less like a mattress and more like a very dedicated night shift.
Under the hand-tufted top panel is three inches of Talalay latex, supported by American-made pocket coil springs.
From the outside, you see a beautiful mattress.
Inside, there’s quite a bit more going on.
But one of my favorite parts has nothing to do with how many coils are inside.
It has to do with something we all know:
Trying a mattress in a showroom for 10 or 15 minutes is not the same as sleeping on it at home.
In a showroom, you still have your shoes on. You may be holding your purse. And some people are far too polite to roll around on the mattress the way they actually sleep.
Your body needs time.
That’s why our mattresses have a zippered cover that allows the firmness layer to be adjusted after the mattress is already in your home.
You can sleep on it for up to three months.
And if you decide you would be more comfortable a little softer—or a little firmer—we can come back to your home and change the top latex layer to a different firmness at no charge.
I like that idea for a reason that goes beyond mattresses.
Sometimes what we think we want during a few minutes in a showroom isn’t what our body tells us after several weeks of real sleep.
And something we spend roughly a third of our lives using should probably give us a little room to change our minds.
Natural Mattress Heaven offers six mattress styles, but what I love most isn’t the number of models or even the thousands of tiny coils inside them.
It’s the philosophy behind them.
We’re not trying to make one mattress that somehow fits everybody.β¨We’re trying to make the mattress fit the people who are actually going to sleep on it.
A good relationship may require compromise in plenty of areas.
Mattress firmness?
Maybe that doesn’t have to be one of them.
So now I’m curious:
Which side would you choose tonight—Soft, Medium, Firm, or Extra Firm?
And would the person sleeping next to you choose the same thing… or something completely different?
